Electricarna 2025

The big EV event on the Better NZ Trust’s calendar is ELECTRICARNA, which is happening next Saturday 5th April 2025 from 10am to 2pm, at the Northcroft Reserve in Taupo.

Yes, we moved the event from New Plymouth where we originally had been allowed to be an ‘add-on’ to the huge ‘Americana’ event, celebrating vehicles which are loud, fuel propelled and have a steering wheel on the left hand side! We had made Electricarna an event in its own right in the last 3 years in New Plymouth, but this year the NPDC could not offer us the same location and appeared indifferent to helping us.

But this opportunity to host the event in Taupo gives us a more central location in a town that embraces the EV movement, spearheaded of course by Steve and Ned at DriveEV, who will be at the event with both cars and a V2L demonstration unit that they will be happy to demonstrate.
Ecotricity content creator, and potato consumer, Gavin will be revealing his EV conversion Allegro to the public, and will bring it to the event on a trailer pulled by an electrified ute. Guess which?

Tesla will be there with cars available for test drives for those who wish to experience the thrill, as well as 2 demonstration units, a refreshed Model 3 and a Model Y, that people will be able to sit in.
So there will be lots to see and admire at Electricarna this year, and did I mention there will be a great foodtruck, from Off-Site Brew and Bite, serving finger food and coffee to keep you hydrated and well fed.
